Model 5
This is one of my favorite works because of the charcoal I used but I dont think the drawing of the body is my best. It was hard to get the legs and body accurate because some of it was concealed by the cloth so you had to try and still make it look all connected and proportional. I like the use of the dark charcoal colors and all the background and foreground objects. I especially like the drapery and the plant.
Model 4
In this pencil drawing the model is laying across the chest draped with cloth and a table behind her. I think this one was difficult to draw because of the way she was laying. I think the lower half of the body is too large for the top/chest and head area. I like the way the cloth is draped where I started to shade it, that was something we have been working with all semester. This piece is unfinished especially the head and face.
Still life painting
This is a still life painting we did in class recently. I enjoyed this exercise because it was different from what we had been doing all semester. I think the painting was a good break from drawing with charcoal and pencil all semester. I like the way the objects are placed in the painting I think they are accurate sizes and proportioned to one another.
Model 3
This is a drawing using pencil and charcoal of the model posed on the file cabinet with an intricate background. The background of this photo is really important because it is placed around the model and needs to be accurate for the model to be proportioned correctly. When dealing with the background elements they need to be in the real life accurate proportion or else it will look as if the model. I like how I drew the model in this photo because I think he body is positioned nicely and the shading in the back arch of her was extremely important to her body position.
Model 2
This is a drawing of the model sitting in a chair. I like the way this drawing came out because I think her body proportions and face are more accurate than my previous works. I also shaded it and think my shading technique has been improving. In addition, the cloths are draped on the chair which I think could have used more shading.
Model
This drawing is of the model holding the plant with both hands. This is my least favorite work of the semester because I think the face is really distorted. I don't really like how it came out and think I would have needed to spend alot more time on it to try and fix it. I started to use black and white charcoal to highlight and shadow certain areas.
Quick Pose 2
This is another quick pose we did with the model, only spending about two minutes on getting this drawing started. I like this pose because we had not done something like it before. This sketch just give the general shape because there was not time to get into detail and shading. The model is sitting crouched and holding her knees. I think the focus on this drawing if I were to spend more time on it would be getting the arch of the back correctly and making sure the legs are proportional eventhough they are bent.
quick pose
This was one of the quicker poses I did of the model. This was done in pencil and I was trying to focus on getting the proportions right of the model sitting on the chair. For a quick sketch I mostly like the way this one came out, I think the legs are a little too short though.
portraits
In this assignment we had to draw a portrait of the person sitting across from us. This was hard for me because I find it very hard to get the facial features completely accurate on people. This was our first assignment and I hope to improve from this work throughout the semester.
