Drapery
This is a recent still life we had in class. This still life consisted of three different cloths draping over one another. The biggest challenge I found when drawing was being able to distinguish the cloths from one another as I did not want them to seem like one large cloth. Throughout this drawing we worked with using lights and darks to shade and portray the cloths to be more realistic. I was not completely done with distinguishing lights and darks throughout the entire drawing but began to on the left side. I think the darks I added to the left side really brought the cloths more to life. This assignment really helped me work on shading and how light affects what you are drawing.
Portrait
This is from one of the first day of classes when we worked on portrait drawing. This is a portrait of another student in the class. This was my first time trying to draw a portrait of someone in front of me so drawing faces in detail was new to me. Since this class I have began to draw faces and portraits more often and found myself becoming increasing better.
Still Life 1
This was the first still life we did in class. I liked the way most of it ended up however the angle I was drawing from made it very challenging. I think the bottle in my drawing seems too flat because I was trying to portray it from an odd angle. Overall, I enjoyed this still life and it definitely allowed me to critique myself before future still lives.
Figure in Motion
This was a drawing exercise where students in the class walked back and forth in front of the classroom. We were trying to draw the students in motion and the exercise helped me understand how the proportions of bodies work especially when moving. The more sketches I was able to draw the easier it became for me to understand how to draw them in motion. It also allowed me to see how people put more weight in some areas when walking or how they hold certain parts of their body and I found it very interesting.
