Henry Matisse uses contour lines to draw this woman figure. Matisse unlike Daumier's drawings look cleaner and uses more  exact lines to outline the woman. The drawing does not display the figure in motion. You are also able to see the progress Matisse made in this drawing because you can see the erased marks. The thicker and darker lines define where the weight is placed in this stance the woman is holding.
