The Horse in Motion is an example of Muybridge's freeze frame photography. He used a row of cameras to take pictures of the horse in motion. The overall result astonished people because the horse can have all four legs off the ground when running.  Muybridge's freeze frame pictures have been used to study the motion of human body as well as animals.
